Frequently Asked Questions

If you are scheduled for your routine dental checkup, expect the appointment to be 30-45 minutes.

Whilst we understand it is great to know the price of treatment before your appointment, we also understand that every persons’ oral health is unique to them. Fillings can differ in size and material, some smiles may require further cleaning, and some teeth may need different treatment than initially expected. We ask you please first schedule a consult with one of our oral health professionals, so we can provide an accurate quote for your treatment.

It’s important to visit the dentist every six months for routine check-ups and cleanings to ensure your oral health stays in top condition. Regular dental visits allow your dentist to identify potential issues early, such as cavities, gum disease, or other concerns that may not be noticeable yet. Professional cleanings help remove plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing alone can’t eliminate, reducing your risk of tooth decay and gum problems. Additionally, these appointments provide an opportunity for our dentists to provide personalized diet advice and resources to aid any recommended lifestyle changes. By staying proactive with your dental care, you can prevent more serious and costly issues down the road, helping you maintain a beautiful, healthy smile for years to come.

We also ask for your Medicare card number, so we ask you please either bringing the physical card to your appointment or have a photo of the card on your phone.

We may ask you to complete our medical history form before your appointment – so if you are taking any medications, it is a good idea to either take a photo or write out a list to remind yourself of details such as the name, dose and frequency of your medication.

If you notice your jaw is sore in the morning and the pain becomes less intense as the day goes on, teeth grinding (Bruxism) is the most likely culprit. Our teeth are only supposed to make contact with each other when we are eating; when at rest our jaw should be slightly separated. Grinding puts a lot of pressure on the jaw joints and muscles resulting in pain. Common reasons for grinding at night time may be; high levels of stress, chronic pain, or a side effect of medication. Fortunately there are many simple and affordable treatment options available. For more information, please view our services page on ‘TMJ and Occlusion’.

Straightening teeth without traditional braces is possible using clear aligners, a popular and effective alternative. These aligners are custom-made, transparent trays that gradually shift teeth into the desired position. Unlike braces, clear aligners are nearly invisible, providing a more discreet treatment option. They are removable, allowing for easier cleaning and eating without restrictions. The aligners are typically worn for 20-22 hours a day and are replaced every few weeks as treatment progresses. Clear aligners can address various dental issues such as crowding, gaps, and mild to moderate misalignment, offering a convenient and comfortable way to achieve a straighter smile.

No! Sadly, we often hear patients believing that it is more difficult or more painful to adjust the position of our teeth, after adolescence. Our clear aligners have proven a popular choice among adults seeking orthodontic treatment as they provide a more discreet treatment experience than traditional braces.
